ABOUT THE ARTIST

Katun is a graffiti artist and illustrator from Malaysia, also one of the founder from 4stages sdn bhd developed an interest in art at a young age, influenced by cartoons, comics, and hip-hop culture. He began experimenting with graffiti around 2006, honing his skills and gradually gaining recognition for his distinctive style. Over the years, he transitioned from working solely on public walls to creating more complex pieces on various mediums, including canvases and digital platforms.

Katun's art is a blend of traditional graffiti and pop culture elements, with a heavy influence from cartoons and animated series. His work often features bold lines, vibrant colors, and characters with exaggerated expressions and movements. This unique combination gives his pieces a lively and energetic feel, making them instantly recognizable.

Growing up in Malaysia, Katun’s quotidian exposure to monkeys and forestry in the region initially sparked his inspirations in creating his unique statement pieces—his apes. Known for its robust body form, Katun has redefined his apes to take a humanistic silhouette while staying true to the natural disjointed limbs of the great apes that are native to Malaysia.
